David Leonard P.L.Eng., P.Tech. (Eng.), A.Sc.T. (SK), Associate Building Envelope Specialist, Entuitive
As an Associate Building Envelope Specialist at Entuitive, David’s current role is focused on the effective design and review of building envelopes for new construction, as well as restoration projects for various enclosure systems. These include curtain wall, masonry, window wall, architectural precast concrete and various roofing systems complete with extensive and intensive green roof designs. David provides strong and compliant designs through a strong understanding of building envelope systems. He is known for his experience in general cladding, specialty cladding and daylighting systems.
David’s experience also includes involvement in a range of building envelope testing such as air leakage and water infiltration for cladding and daylighting systems.
Antoine Habellion M.Eng., M.A.S., Building Science Manager, ROCKWOOL
Antoine Habellion is the Manager of the Building Science department of ROCKWOOL North America, where the main focus of his work, apart from the team management, entails managing of building enclosure research projects related to energy efficiency, enclosure performance, summer comfort, hygrothermal analysis, Building Information Modeling (BIM), durability and resilience. As a building science professional, the core group of his clients include architects, engineers, design consultants and contractors. Prior to moving to North America, Antoine worked as a building scientist in Paris, France, with the Latin Division of ROCKWOOL.
Antoine holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the engineering school of Hautes Etudes d’Ingénieur in Lille, France and an advanced master’s degree in Building Science from the engineering schools of Arts et Métiers ParisTech and ESTP in Paris, France. Antoine is fluent in French and English.
Bill Chomik Architect AAA, Architect AIBC, OAA, MSAA, FRAIC, HON FAIA, RCA, Senior Principle, Vice President – Institutional, Kasian
Bill is a senior principal with Kasian, one of Canada’s leading architectural design firms. His work is celebrated world-wide, particularly in the area of civic building design where Bill has completed planetarium, science centre and museum projects not only in Canada, but also in the countries of Greece, Korea, China and USA. In Calgary, Bill has made significant contributions to the City’s built environment having led or participated in the design of a number of award-winning buildings such as U of C’s Taylor Family Digital Library, U of C’s Child Development Centre, Alberta Children’s Hospital, Telus Spark Planetarium, Calgary Humane Society, City of Calgary Animal Services Centre, South Health Campus and Calgary Courts Centre.
Bill’s architectural career is marked by a number of awards, including the Governor General’s Award for Architecture. He was greatly influenced by the work of Arthur Erickson who entrusted Bill with working on a number of high-profile commissions throughout Canada including two of Erickson’s three Alberta projects, Moraine Lake Lodge and Red Deer Performing Arts Centre.
Besides being a leader in the field of architecture, Bill, an avid musician, is committed to Calgary’s cultural and business community, serving on the boards of many organizations dedicated to making Calgary an outstanding place of residence.
Shawn Frayn, RRO CTR, General Manager, Western Weather Protector Ltd.
Shawn Frayn has been in the roofing industry for close to 20 years with experience in distribution, technical sales and now contracting. Shawn spent 5 years with Convoy Supply, 2 years as a technical representative for IKO Industries, 10 years as the technical representative and Alberta Sales Manager for Soprema Canada Inc and now as the General Manger of Western Weather Protector Ltd. in Calgary, a commercial roofing and waterproofing contractor.
Shawn has been active with many associations such as being on the Board of Directors and the Technical Committee of the Alberta Roofing Contractors Association (ARCA). Shawn has been the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Canadian Prairies Chapter of the IIBEC (formerly RCI Inc.) and a member in good standing of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
Shawn has the designation of a Registered Roof Observer from IIBEC and a Certified Technical Representative from CSC.
